The Suratee Sunni Vohra Muslim Education Society was established in 1947 by the elders of Vohra community who are visionary, well wishers and think tankers. During the independence of India, the first priority was education which only can uplift the community.
From 1947, the society has done continues progress, initially starting with providing monetary help to the poor and needy students in the form of education scholarship, now days the society is trying it’s best for the various activities and charities under various heads. Such activities and charities are as follows.
Scholarship

Studentents pursuing Primary to Higher education, Medical, Engineering, Pharmacy, Computer courses, Madressa Students and other Short term courses are gets benefits under this scheme. In the first year 1947-48, the society has distributed INR 5,030 as scholarship for education which reached to INR 15280550/-in 2023-2024 (01-04-2023 to 31-03-2024) in various areas.

Widow Fund

Society has also start activities to uplift social growth in community. To help the windows of community, society has established ‘Widows Fund’ (Bewa Fund), for this fund we got the inspiration and help from HAJI AHMED BILAKHADI (LAHER) staying at South Africa. The first widow fund was established in 1978-79 with amount of INR 24,000/- which is increased to INR 5390000/- in 2023-2024 (01-04-2023 to 31-03-2024) towards 1073 widows.

Society has expands its activity towards Medical aid also, Society allotted the land to Sarvajanik Medical Trust, Rampura, SURAT to build the Hospital. In 1980-81, society has started medical relief to poor and needy persons, at initial stage INR 11,123/- spent for medical fund which is increased to INR 129914/- to 12 patients in 2023-2024 (01-04-2023 to 31-03-2024). Since last 10 years, The Medical Relief Fund was established in the name of our philanthropists’ donor from United Kingdom HAJI ISMAIL AHMED BADAT.

Medals and Cash Prices
Society is also distributing cash prize, Medals and Merit Certificates to the students of community who got the higher rank in the examination of SSC and HSC under various scheme, so that the students can motivated for further study.

With the great vision of our elders, initiative by JANAB AAZAMBHAI DADABHAI and huge donation in the form of Land at Kosamba (7 Vingha) by DR. G. I. MOTALA and his family the dream become true in the form of A.Y.Dadabhai Technical Institute, Kosamba.
A. Y. Dadabhai Technical Institute (Polytechnic) the First Muslim managed Polytechnic in Gujarat state start from August 2008, approved by A.I.C.T.E (All India Council for Technical Education) Government of India and affiliated with Gujarat Technological University, Ahmedabad.

VOHRA SAMACHAR
From 1951, Society started the monthly magazine ‘Vohra Samachar’ to create awareness and increase the knowledge about community. Since 1951, the magazine is regularly published till date.
